Foot Pain Mount Gravatt & Browns Plains, Brisbane
Foot pain can be caused by any number of conditions from plantar fasciitis to joint sprains causing pain, discomfort and restricting mobility and activity.
As the causes vary, establishing the underlying cause of your foot pain is essential to treating it effectively. Foot pain treatment often involves gentle hands on manipulation as well as a personalised exercise plan to correct any misalignment that may be contributing to your pain. Your treatment plan may include rehabilitation exercises that will gradually reduce your pain and assist in regaining full mobility over time.
Causes of Foot Pain
Some of the foot pain conditions we commonly treat are:
Plantar Fasciitis
The Plantar Fascia is a strong and thick piece of tissue running the length of your foot. When walking, this tightens up to allow you to maintain momentum and stabilize your foot bones. When your foot is placed under large amounts of stress, the plantar fascia can become inflamed. The pain is most commonly felt under the heel where the plantar fascia attaches. This is predisposed by having a weak arch and flat feet.
Joint Sprains
The foot has many little bones that work together to support your body weight and help you walk. Sometimes these little joints between the bones can become irritated due to inappropriate footwear, increase in activity or traumatic events. Localized pain that can be sharp in nature may be due to irritation to these joints.
Treatment For Foot Pain
Osteopathy can be very effective at treating and managing foot pain. Whatever the cause of the pain, the soft tissue techniques used will help to reduce muscle tension, pain, and improve circulation to the affected tissues. This will be combined with gentle joint manipulation and articulation techniques to help increase joint range of movement and as needed electrotherapy or dry needling. Shockwave Therapy has also been shown to be as useful or even better than Cortisone Injections for treating Plantar Fasciitis. Personalised education and rehabilitation will help you manage pain and injury in the short and long term. The Whole Body Clinic can assist with all of the different types of ankle pain.
